Although there are many different species of shrimp, the good news is they all consist of similar amounts of protein. So whether you enjoy a nice freshwater, tiger or white shrimp you will be consuming an excellent source of protein. The U.S. Department of Agriculture states that 100 grams of cooked shrimp contains 24 grams of protein. A high protein diet helps individuals stay lean. Due to the chain of amino acids in protein it helps the body repair cells and make new ones.
