Shrimp all by itself is simply a lean protein, a delicious crustacean that is part of the shellfish family. To know what the bag of shrimp you are purchasing actually contains, it is very important to read the ingredient statement on the package. The package may list a number of ingredients, for example: shrimp, salt, sodium tripolyphosphate (to retain moisture) or it may read shrimp, water, salt, sodium carbonate and sodium citrate, this chemical compound is also used to enhance moisture in the shrimp. So to know what is really in the shrimp, please read the ingredients carefully and if it is an ingredient that is not of your liking, select a different package.

Shall we say, we love to indulge in all natural shrimp, it cooks up with a more vibrant color and the shrimp does not shrink up to the same degree as say a treated product.
